Amazing Beer Bread

I hate baking. This recipe is so easy, and SO delicious, that I've come back to it many times.
Course Appetizer, Snacks
Cuisine American
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes
Servings 1 loaf

  • 3 cups flour sifted or spooned into a measuring cup
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 12 oz can beer
  • 1/2 cup butter melted

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Grease a loaf pan with butter or Pam
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together, and then mix in beer
  4. Pour into greased loaf pan, leaving rough texture on top
  5. Pour melted butter over mixture. If you're using unsalted butter, sprinkle a little extra salt on top
  6. Bake about 1 hour, until crust on top is golden brown, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes

Recipe Notes

A dark beer works well for this, like an Amber or Brown Ale. I used Bone Up Brewing's Ruby Rye and couldn't have been happier. Something like Smithwick's is still good but not as flavorful.
