Servings: 1 loaf
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour sifted or spooned into a measuring cup
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 12 oz can beer
- 1/2 cup butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Grease a loaf pan with butter or Pam
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together, and then mix in beer
- Pour into greased loaf pan, leaving rough texture on top
- Pour melted butter over mixture. If you're using unsalted butter, sprinkle a little extra salt on top
- Bake about 1 hour, until crust on top is golden brown, remove from pan and cool for at least 15 minutes
Notes
A dark beer works well for this, like an Amber or Brown Ale. I used Bone Up Brewing's Ruby Rye and couldn't have been happier. Something like Smithwick's is still good but not as flavorful.
