Bread Butt Croutons

I save up bread butts from sliced loaves and turn them into delicious croutons.

Servings 6 servings


  • 10 slices bread wheat, white, anything works
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste


  1. Cut bread slices into small squares
  2. Mix melted butter, olive oil, and seasonings. Taste mixture to make sure it's to your liking and adjust as needed
  3. In a large bowl, mix bread cubes and oil/butter mixture. Toss to coat. Add more olive oil as necessary to make sure all pieces are coated
  4. Bake at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until slightly crisp and brown. Serve on salads, soups, or however you'd normally eat croutons!
